The Russian city of Tolyatti in Samara Oblast has come under a drone attack. During the night of April 4, kamikaze drones struck two chemical plants in the city — Tolyattikauchuk and KuibyshevAzot — according to local Telegram channels. The strikes caused explosions and fires at both facilities. It was also reported that one of the drones hit a residential building, triggering a fire. Due to the drone attacks, airports in the Samara region were temporarily shut down. The regional governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, confirmed the attack, stating that one employee at an industrial facility was injured. He also noted that air defense systems were activated, and debris from a downed drone fell onto a multi-story residential building. Tolyatti is located approximately 900 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The KuibyshevAzot plant is one of Russia’s leading producers of nitrogen fertilizers, particularly known for caprolactam and its derivatives. Meanwhile, Tolyattikauchuk specializes in producing synthetic rubber and chemical components used in tire and rubber manufacturing.
