ByRobot Skykick

Have you ever thought of kicking your drone? Today, I am here to introduce you to the Byrobot Skykick.

This drone comes from a company based in Korea and when I saw it being showcased, I couldn’t help but to pay attention – if you have kids, this is something you’re going to want to look into.

Quadcopter Inside a Ball

Basically, the Skykick is a quadcopter that is constructed with a giant ball-shaped propeller guard. The difference between this and the other drones that I have is the fact that it is able to withstand kicks … in fact, it’s meant to be kicked around and you can even hold it as if you were holding a basketball.

Want to know something even more interesting than being able to hold it like a basketball? Other than the fact that it has a kid-friend design, this drone can even fly through hoops. Now isn’t that pretty cool?

When I went to the booth, I got to witness the representative kicking the soccer drone (lightly) and then start the quadcopter up as soon as it bounced from the floor.

It has a 6-axis stabilization sensor, so it’s stable enough to be able to fly around, even after it has been kicked by a little kid (or adult). After this, I watched the pilot fly the drone into a soccer goal that they had set up in their booth. Yes, this was a prototype, but Skykick shows me that it was fully operable.

This drone comes with a 360 degree propeller guard, battery, controller and four additional propellers to use later on.

The ByRobot Skykick is equipped with a pressure sensor, altitude hold, and it even has the ability to change colors with the seven LEDs on it.

Maximum Range

This drone can fly a maximum range of up to 330 feet, which is more than some of the other drones I looked at.

Flight Time and Speed

The drone is capable of flying for a total of five minutes and can reach speeds of up to 19 mph, which is decent. I do wish the flight time was a bit longer, because five minutes goes by so fast, especially for little ones, but it is what it is.

The drone weighs 65 grams when the 400 mAh battery isn’t there. The dimensions are 7.87” x 7.87” x 7.08.

The drone has a hoop that you can purchase separately. The hoop was created to be utilized as a goal in a new sports concept. With the hoop, you can play a game of soccer with two teams of five drones. The sport is called “Drone Soccer” and it combines teamwork with flying techniques. It was created to be a spectator sport and I feel that while kids will be able to participate in the sport, it’s also something the adults will enjoy.

The ByRobot Skykick is something that really stood out from the crowd, because as I said in the beginning, it is a drone that you can actually kick around. Not only this, but you can also participate in “Drone Soccer” using this drone and I heard drone soccer is very fun, even if you’re not a kid. Based on the fact that this is a unique drone with some pretty interesting features, I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes a little bit of excitement in their life.
